Geographical Situation
Argentina is located in the southern extreme of South America. With
a continental extension of 2.791.810 Km2.(including Malvinas Islands,
other South Atlantic Islands and part of Antarctica). Argentina is
the second largest country in South America and the eighth in the
world.
Including the Antarctic Sector, Argentina claims a total area of 3.761.274
Km2
It is some 1425 Km across at its widest from east to west and stretches
3.800 Km from the north to the south.
it is bounded by Bolivia and Paraguay on the north, Brasil, Uruguay
and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, and by the Atlantic Ocean and
Chile on the west and south.
Relief
The western part of Argentina is occupied by the Andes mountain range,
the great mountain system of the South American continent. Here we
find the Aconcagua (6.959 m), the highest peak in the world outside
those existing in the Himalaya.
There also exists several parallel ranges to the east of the Andes,
such as the Eastern Mountain range and the Sub-Andean sierras to the
north ,The Pampean Sierras to the north and centre from the Aconquija
up to the Sierras of Córdoba and San Luis, and Buenos Aires
sierras systems such as Tandilia and Ventania.
The central part and the east of Argentina (except for the parallel
groups to the Andes already mentioned) consist almost entirely of
a flat or gently undulating plain.

The city of Buenos Aires, one of the most important Latin American

This city was founded on April 19th, 1593 by Francisco de Argañaraz
y Murguía. It is sorrounded by mountains within the triangle
made up by the tall herbaceous of Nieva and the rivers Xibi-Xibi
and Grande. Right from this place, the ravine of Humahuaca begins
to ascend; a natural climbing path to the Puna, with grounds of
changing tones that range from blue to red.
Its modern buildings alternate with others of colonial style. The
city has a modern receiving infrastructure such as comfortable hotels,
restaurants, and cafeterias. It has a quite active commercial centre
where you can purchase sweaters made of threads of llamita and merino,
as well as several regional articles, especially in the shops of
Belgrano, Alvear, Lavalle or Necochea streets. Walking around its

National festivity of the student from September 17th, to 23th also
reach singular importance. From August 23rd, the week of the exodo
takes place, as a reminder of this fact that took place during the
Independence War, when the people from Jujuy escorted the General
Belgrano in his withdrawal leaving a devastated land to the realists.

The city is situated in the northern extreme of the province of Misiones
on the border between Paraguay and Brazil. It is located right in
the confluence of the Paraná and Iguazú rivers. Its
port has an intense movement with Port Meira (Brazil), in a typical

Puerto Iguazú is linked with Brazil and Ciudad del Este in

in Argentina and South America.

This village is situated in the Southern sector of the Punilla valley,
next to the San Roque lake and at 35 Km. to the west of the province's
capital, to which it is linked by means of a modern highway that joins
both points within a few minutes. It is the main tourist centre of
the province, to the west of the Cordoba capital.
The San Roque lake that bathes its coasts, is suitable for water sports,
canoeing, swimming, sailing, and windsurf. A service of catamarans
takes you accross the lake.
Besides, There are numberless beach resorts over the San Antonio river
and within its roundabouts.
You will note a great activity at the shops of the downtown streets
and in the modern shop centres, which display a large variety of regional
textiles, ceramics, ornamental objects, craftmanship and typical sweets

The beauty of its landscapes, the peace and tranquility that its great

It is the main tourist centre of the province. Its origins go back
to 1883, when a fort was set up in the Vega Maipú. Today it
is an active community with 18.000 inhabitants.
The city, situated between the Lácar eastern lakeside and the
fertile Vega Maipú valley, is picturesque, of Alpine style,
and with buildings with abundant wood and wide pavement streets resulting
of an ordered outlining.
In winter the city gets covered by snow. This is an ideal frame for
the practice of ski in the neighbouring winter centre of Chapelco.
In summer, the activities are mostly carried out in contact with nature,
within the Lanín National Park, where you will find several
possibilities: sporting fishing of salmonids , trekking, rafting,
mountaineering, fotographic safaris, excursions in 4 x 4, etc.

establishments, San Martín de Los Andes offers a suggestive

San Carlos de Bariloche was founded on May, 1902 on the shores of
the Nahuel Huapi lake in the province of Río Negro. The city
stands out for its architectural features and for being located in
a priviledged region due to the beauty of its landscapes made up of
mountains, woods, lakes, glaciers, and an exuberant flora.
It is one of the most populated cities in the province and one of
the most important tourist centres in Argentina.
Its characteristic architecture consists of buildings made from stones
and wood with slated gabled roofs, that give the city a very special
physiognomy. Among the most outstanding groups we can mention the
Civic Centre, seat of the main official organisms.
Within the centre arteries there are varied shops and commercial shop
centres, cafeterias, and restaurants. The city also has an important
busy night life.
Date of the national and international tourism, Bariloche can be enjoyed
all the year long. In the spring and summer seasons, it is ideal for
carrying out all kinds of excursions and outdoor activities; in winter,
the snow offers a singular panorama, including the skiing spectacle
in one of the most important Argentine centres for the practice of
this sport in South America: Mount Cathedral. Within this frame, there
exists the famous Fiesta Nacional de la Nieve (Snow National Celebration)

El Calafate was created in 1927 and was named after the thorny shrub
with strongly tinted fruits that extends over the whole South Andean
Patagonia.

the tourist centre of higher hierarchy in Santa Cruz.
Leaning on the hillsides that surround it, El Calafate offers a benign
microclimate that turns the place into an oasis that marvels the tourist
who reaches it after travelling across the arid landscape of the Patagonic
plateaux. The Calafate stream ,which divides the village in two, is
a placid retreat with a rocky bed surrounded by willows leaning over
its banks.
It is the nearest city to visit The Glaciers National Park and its
famous Perito Moreno Glacier, which was declared Natural Patrimony
of the Humanity by the UNESCO.
The buildings in El Calafate are gabled roofs to avoid the effects
of the heavy snows. Its flora is characteristic of the Andean Patagonic
woods, with a clear predominance of lengas and sour cherry woods.
It offers a good lodging and gastronomic infrastructure, agencies
and tourist guides that organize several terrestrial and lacustrine

Ushuaia, the southernmost city of the world, is the capital of the
province of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida and South Atlantic
Islands.
Situated on the border of the Beagle Canal and surrounded by the Mounts
Martial, this city offers a unique landscape in Argentina made up
of mountains, sea, glaciers and woods.
Its capricious topography has generated an extremely picturesque city
that combines colours and unevenness with the silhouette of the Andes
Mountain Range as background. it is important to note the building

the Argentine Antártida. During this season, several cruises
reach the port of Ushuaia bringing numberless groups of tourists willing

where you can try the traditional fueguina spider crab surrounded
by the frame of a prodigious nature.
